FINE DINING, MOST ROMANTIC, HAPPY HOUR FOOD

Clinkerdagger

621 Mallon Avenue, www.clinkerdagger.com

It is a dynasty! 2011 is the fifth year in a row that you voted Clickerdagger as your first choice for an elegant meal out. Clinkerdagger also took top honors for Happy Hour Food and Most Romantic. 40 years of memories, slow-roasted rock-salt Prime Rib and fresh fish, that addictive pea salad, Happy Hour deals and dark cozy corners continue Clinkerdagger’s winning streak. SEAFOOD

Anthony’s At The Falls

510 N Lincoln Street,  www.anthonys.com

Perched on the rocks overlooking the Spokane River falls, Anthony’s takes the top spot again for best Seafood. Sure, it is part of a high-end restaurant empire, but being the big fish in a market has its benefits: in this case fresh fish and seafood flown in from Anthony’s own seafood company based in Seattle. STEAK

Wolf Lodge Steakhouse

104 South Freya Street, www.wolflodgerestaurants.com

In the unending battle for steak supremacy locally, this year’s top honors go to genuine restaurant siblings. Wolf Lodge Steakhouse in Spokane takes the Gold and Wolf Lodge Inn in Idaho takes the top spot east of the state line. This year your vote was for upscale rustic over city slicker table cloths and long wine lists. Long live the 34 ounce Rancher steak… it must have had something to do with this 2011 double team that pushed both Spencer’s and Churchill’s into Silver and Bronze. (KF)

VEGETARIAN

Mizuna

Mizuna stunned Spokane in 1996 with a completely vegetarian menu that was first and foremost delicious. Under Chef Tony Brown, today it remains on the cutting edge of both vegetarian and vegan cuisine even as the menu has become “flexitarian” with fresh fish or organic and hormone-free meats. Enjoy the seasonal changes in the menu and note that separate cooking surfaces are used for all meat products. (KF)

NEW RESTAURANT

Savory

1314 South Grand Boulevard, www.savoryspokane.com

Savory turned retail space formerly occupied by Blockbuster into the top pick for new restaurants this year. With ample patio seating off Grand, an expansive bar, and plenty of inside seating, they have a seat waiting for you when you want to check out what they are doing right.  We think that will include details like making key condiment sauces in house.
